Our Story
Ames Family Farm started out as a FFA project for our daughter during the summer of 2017 in Denham Springs, Louisiana, We moved to our current location just east of Ipava on US Hwy 136 in April of 2021.
We currently have 41 laying hens, consisting of Barred Plymouth Rock, Cinnamon Queen, Ameraucana, and Easter Egger breeds. In 2023 we are expanding our flock with 42 more chicks who should start producing eggs in July. These consist of Rhode Island Red, Buff Orpington, Black Australorp, Olive Egger, and Partridge Rock breeds.
In May of 2021 we planted several fruit trees, consisting of Peach, Plum, Apricot, Cherry, and Elderberry. Once these trees start producing fruit, Ames Family Farm will offer fresh fruit and homemade jelly to our customers. Our plan is to grow a variety of produce this year, such as yellow pear and beefsteak tomatoes, yellow and purple raspberries, and aronia berriesĀ for our customers.
