MacLiam’s Moor

Find a Farm

Our Story

MacLiam’s Moor is a micro farm located in Perry County, PA. Our egg laying chickens are a mix of heritage breeds including Black Australorps, Buff Orpingtons, Rhode Island Reds, Welsummers, Golden Laced Wyandottes, Easter Eggers, and Barred Rocks. We also raise broiler chickens and grow out feeder pigs to butcher.

Our eggs are organic, Omega-3 fortified, and hand gathered daily. Our chickens are allowed to free-range all day in a large enclosed run to protect them from predators. They have a very spacious coop that allows them to stay inside during bad weather if they so choose, without crowding.

We have decided to try our hand this year at raising broiler chickens on pasture. We have Freedom Rangers and Kosher Kings. We chose these two breeds because they avoid the “frankenbird” problems that the Cornish Cross have, while maintaining a relatively nice feed conversion and healthy butcher weight.

In addition to the broilers, we also have 2 feeder pigs that we are raising to butcher this fall. This is definitely a learning experience for us but one we have enjoyed thus far.

If you have any interest in pasture raised chicken meat, please let us know and we will notify you if/when we decide to sell to the public.

Please call, email, send a text or Facebook message ahead of time. While our birds are excellent layers, we sometimes do run out of them due to high demand!
