Rachel and Justin decided to start a farm in 2020, both having a love for all things natural and a desire to help bring healthy food options to their community. They started their family farm on 1 acre of land in Castalian Springs, Tn and recently were able to expand, purchasing and moving onto 6.5 acres in Portland, Tn. They both work 40 hour jobs, and in their free time spend evenings and weekends advancing their farming knowledge, and bettering the new property they live on. They currently share their land with 2 dogs, and 31 chickens (2 Roosters and 29 Hens) but plan to expand their livestock to other animals in need of a good home. They are working on turning the previously used pasture land into usable land for crops in order to provide the best produce possible to those who want it. They’re hoping that by this fall they can offer a Pick your own Pumpkin Patch, as well as a beautiful field of Sunflowers for photography and market fresh flowers!
Rachel and Justin look forward to never ending learning about permaculture and no till practices when possible, knowing that revitalizing the land is just as important as using it. They can’t wait to see where this journey takes them, and hope that it helps better their lives, and their community around them.
