We love our chickens-they provide free insect removal from our 5 acre farm. Our free-range chickens give us eggs that we can now offer to the community. The hens scratch all over the farm from sun-up to sun-down and sleep well protected inside the coop at night, protected from desert predators. The eggs are fertile as the roosters keep busy watching over their hens and make for great chickin’ watching every evening as they settle in the coop to roost.
The manure from the coop is composted and used each season for growing vegetables. I grew up on a certified organic farm and have learned from my Dad that keeping chickens is the best thing to do because they help manufacture the soil…with the eggs being the bonus.
