Our Story

We’re one of many families in Brattleboro with a small backyard flock. Our flock includes 1 Pioneer, 2 Golden Laced Wyandottes, 4 Buff Orpingtons and 6 Partridge Rocks. They are fed conventional feed and vegetable scraps, and they run around in our backyard, and occasionally get out and wreck my flower beds. They have a pretty happy live, despite the occasional fox or red-tailed hawk attack. It seems like every wild carnivore likes an easy chicken dinner! So they go to bed early now, and the hawk has not returned. I work from home in my backyard studio, so I’ve taken to running out back every time I hear them squawk (which means every time they lay an egg). They have been laying eggs through the winter, and are now each laying an egg every day. We hope you enjoy our eggs as much as we do!
