Our Story
We have a small flock of chickens of various breeds that we raise only for eggs. They get high-quality organic feed, vegetable and fruit scraps from our kitchen and garden pumpkins in the fall, and all the bugs they can catch during the warm months. They have free access to the out-of-doors during the day, although they are confined to a fenced area due to predators. When we are working outdoors and can protect them, the chickens forage in a much larger grassy yard with shade trees. We use only organic methods in our garden and chicken yard. The birds share the barn and yard with five sheep who provide wool for spinning, as well as helping with mowing and fertilizing the yard.
