Our Story

Thanks for taking the time to learn more about Walking T Beef! Before you read more we just wanted to let you know that we are committed to raising a healthy product at an affordable price, we just believe that it is the right thing to do. Everything we do on the ranch is focused on raising quality beef in a healthy, humane way. You’ll taste the difference!


There’s more to quality beef than just getting an animal fat enough to send to the butcher. We believe that there is a method to consistently produce better beef. Good genetics, quality feed, and low stress are all key parts in the making of quality beef.


Ever wondered why some steaks are tender and juicy while others are tough and flavorless? The difference in large part comes down to genetics. We select our Black Angus  and Hereford sires based on their proven ratings in beef tenderness and marbling so that you can count on tender flavorful beef. With 30 years invested in the development of our herd genetics, we feel confident that you’ll taste the difference.

With most things in life, simpler is better. That’s especially true when it comes to cattle. We raise our cattle on grass pasture and then feed them natural grain and hay to get the marbling and flavor that we’ve become known for. There are no antibiotics in the feed, no growth hormones, and no implants. Our beef is 100% non-GMO and 100% vegetarian fed. We grow the feed ourselves and we put it up ourselves. Simpler is better.

Stress negatively affects the quality of beef especially in terms of tenderness. Because of the simplicity of our program, we handle our cattle very little. When we do work with our cattle we are careful to handle them calmly and humanely. It’s easier on the cow and the cowboy both. This cuts down on the stress on the animals which means better beef for you.
